A one night stand.
A secret.
A mistake they tried to forget.

On leave from the army, Tyler Dare is just looking for a little fun, but his best friend's sister is off limits. Yet unable to deny how sexy and alluring she is, he finds it all too easy to succumb to a night of passion and heat that ends the next morning in the worst way possible.

There are just some guys you don't touch--even someone as innocent and inexperienced as Ella Shaw knows that. But when her brother's best friend is up for grabs and willing, she can't resist. After all, she's wanted him for years…

Now, Ella is stranded on a tropical island with a hurricane bearing down, and only Tyler can save her. It's his chance to make amends for the past and show the woman he's never forgotten that he's coming after her . . . in more ways than one.

Confession time... When I started reading contemporary romance, Carly Phillips was one of the two authors that truly shaped what I would come to love about the genre. Back in the day, Carly's Chandler Brothers and Hot Zone were two of my favorite series. I loved them and I'm actually trying to re-collect both series in paperbacks. Sadly, I wandered away to discover new authors, Lately, I have been meaning to get back into her books. When Dare to Take was offered to me, I don't think I had a moment's pause before I squealed. It's a good thing this wasn't in public... It did not take me long to fall in love with Carly's writing style all over again. Granted, her books have gotten a bit sexier since the last time I read one, but it was like no time has passed since the first time I picked up one of her books. I loved the characters... Oh, holy cow. Tyler Dare... He's the kind of guy you'd want your best friend to fall in love with. He'll drop everything to come to her rescue. He's sexy as sin. He's just...yum. I do wished that Ella had made him grovel a bit more, but I digress. Ella Shaw is a silently strong woman. I say silently because she's stronger than she thinks. She's insecure it when it comes to being loved, but she's also strong enough to face her demons. I loved how she and Tyler stood strong with one another. They didn't let the other back down from outside forces. The sexual tension was off the charts. I loved the suspenseful elements that were woven between Tyler and Ella's romance. Part of me wishes it was a little bit longer, but overall, I thoroughly enjoyed reading Dare to Take. It welcomed be back to the writing style of Carly's the I loved while giving me a chance to see how her style has changed since the last time I read one of her books. I've already added the previous Dare to Love books to my TBR and I'm looking forward to rediscovering Carly's classics.

    1. So true! I remember falling in love with her Hot Zone series when I was first discovering contemporary romance (Rachel Gibson was the other author that really shaped me). It is like meeting an old friend. Remembering fun moments and getting to know each other again.
